Churchill's Although the winter of 2000 was warm and wet, we had a total contrast this last winter with very cold and clear weather throughout December and January. The wines have closed up nicely with this recent spell of cold weather. Their very evident ripe fruit aromas are now packed and concentrated and they have firmed up on taste. The word that I would use to describe the Churchill's 2000 is "intensity". The colour isdark purple and intense. The nose is complex and concentrated and the taste is solid and intensely focused with a good tannin structure. Churchill's 2000 marks a milestone in Churchill's history. It is the first Churchill's Vintage year where we are Port growers and not only Port shippers. The Vintage blend now includes Ports produced from our own estates of Quinta da Gricha and Quinta do Rio.
I believe Churchill's 2000 is a Vintage Port with great ageing potential and will not only be a memorable way to commemorate the turn of the Millennium but also a good investment for the future.

This young Port shows intense aromas of black licorice and berries. It's full-bodied, with superfine tannins and a long, long finish. Seductive. Fantastic young Port from Churchill. Best ever. Best after 2012. 2,000 cases made.

Complex aromas of lead pencil shavings, blueberries, creme de cassis, and licorice emerge from this dense ruby/purple-colored 2000. Full body, sweet tannin (which provides definition), and outstanding concentration result in a seriously-endowed, finely-crafted vintage port with well-integrated tannin, acidity, and alcohol. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025.
