Santa Lucia Highlands contains a unique set of variables well suited to growing Pinot Noir. Its proximity to the Monterey Bay makes it one of the coolest growing regions in California. The Monterey shale and sandy loam soil provide excellent drainage. The southeast facing slope gives it the right amount of sun, allowing for a long hang time and slow consistent maturation of the fruit.
