print cellar notes
A wine with expressive red berry aromas and plush, complex, black and wild cherry fruit, which broadens out on the palate. The wine shows a very exuberant character, typical of both the outstanding 2005 vintage and the fact that this bottling has become one of the stars in the Nicolas Potel portfolio.
Food Match: Veal, lamb, fowl, duck.
International Wine Cellar
Good deep red-ruby. Pungent aromas of raspberry, violet, stone and chocolate. Fat and sweet, with ripe flavors of black cherry and chocolate. This is a big boy, with noteworthy solidity but also ripe framing acidity. Likely to be the best vintage to date for this label. Potel noted that there are 40,000 bottles of this juice, and that he previously made a separate premier cru bottling of 10,000 bottles. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 88-90 points
Score: 90.
Burghound
(Potel noted that 40% of this blend is from various 1ers). Moderate reduction makes the
nose difficult to evaluate but the moderately rustic and full-bodied flavors are frank, rich and direct, underpinned by rugged if not aggressive tannins on the supple but admirably dense finish. This is complex and the material is impressive enough
though like the Valozières, this won’t win any prizes for elegance. (87-90)/2012+
Score: 90.
