I have a handful of wines that are my favorite to promote year after year. These are terrific wines, reasonably priced, that have developed a strong following from one vintage to the next. Among these "gems" is the Capacanes Mas Donis Barrica (which is also one of my favorites to drink). It is, in my opinion, a simple "no brainer" to recommend, as well as to buy (which is why it consistently sells extremely well). It has two of the most important selling factors going for it: quality and price. Not only is it absolutely delicious, but it is very inexpensive. A third selling factor, to those who like to see a high rating back up our raves of quality, is the 2005's 91 pt. rating from The Wine Advocate.

Mas Donis comes from Montsant, a neighbor to Priorat, one of Spain's most famous regions. Montsant received full AOC status just a few years ago. The wine is comprised of 85% Garnacha (from 60+ year old vines), and 15% Syrah.
