Castello di Monsanto

The Chianti Classico Riserve comes from a selection of grapes from vineyards which are more suitable for long maturing. Vinified in steel with a maceration of about 20 days, and as a second passage, it is aged in smaller wooden barrels for about 18 months, to then rest for a minimum of 3 months in glass.

Wine Advocate

The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva sees more contact with barrel (neutral tonneaux and barrique) but you can hardly tell. This stunning expression exudes femininity and elegance. Wild berries, tar, licorice and balsam herbs emerge softly from the bouquet. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022.

Score: 91. —Monica Larner, August 2013.

Wine Spectator

Cherry, raspberry, leather and spice flavors highlight this rich, succulent red, which is firm, yet balanced and integrated, with a long, cherry- and spice-tinged finish. Best from 2015 through 2025. 30,000 cases made.

Score: 90. —Bruce Sanderson, October 15, 2013.
