This wine presents an aromatic characteristic of botrytized harvest. The mouth is at times filled, delicate, complex and has a sensation of crunching all sort of dried, candied fruits. We find, as well, some tobacco and spicy taste. A lovely balance that associates the freshness, sweetness, delicacy and richness of the wine.

Wine Advocate

The Coteaux du Layon Cuvee Fragrance is in the style made famous as well as controversial by this region's "sugar hunters". It is massively dense, jellied, syrupy, and viscous, however, it appears to be well balanced. It displays awesome aromas of candied blood oranges, raspberries, and honeysuckle blossoms. The wine coats the palate with oily quince, oranges, and red fruits. This highly concentrated and powerful wine will require contemplative sipping, not drinking. Projected maturity: now-2012.

Score: 92. —Pierre Rovani, August 1999.
