(70% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah). Planted just after the phyloxera outbreak of 1866, this parcel was named by their father for their paternal grandmother, Marie-Louis Mayard. Having not known their grandmother, sisters Franoise and Beatrice decided to pay hommage to her by also naming this cuvee after her. The wine has a complex floral bouquet and intense dark fruit flavors on the palate.

International Wine Cellar

Bright ruby. A complex, deeply pitched bouquet displays scents of cherry compote, cassis and Indian spices, with a hint of lavender gaining strength with air. Juicy, floral and focused on the palate, with intense dark fruit flavors lifted by tangy acidity. The swet finish features very good floral-driven persistence.

Score: 93. —Stephen Tanzer, February 2012.
