A masculine premier cru of firm full body and robust tannic structure, this wine shows rich, vigorous wild cherry and blackberry fruit on the palate with pronounced impressions of earth and ferrous minerals.

"Sweet Spot Outstanding". Here the very toasty oak aromas presently dominate the otherwise ripe underlying fruit. There is good freshness and verve to the exceptionally rich, powerful and concentrated broad-shouldered flavors that exude a finer minerality that continues onto the gorgeously long finish. There is so much density of material that it seems reasonably certain that the strong toast will be successfully integrated in time. A very impressive showing though again I underscore that this is only for the patient.

Score: 91-94. —Allen Meadows, April 2012.

Wine Advocate

The 2010 Pommard Rugiens is all silkiness and finesse, especially in the tannins. Juicy red berries, flowers and mint are some of the many nuances that are woven together in this classy, totally refined wine. Sweet floral notes are layered into the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030.
