Vinedos Alonso del Yerro

Deep colour with blue trim. Floral (violet), black fruit (black cherry, blackberry) in nose. In mouth we find species are mixed to the fruit. Its wood is elegant and harmonious (marrón glacé, caramelized). Concentrated in mouth, dense and long its silky tannins recall the mineral quality of the terroir from the origin and will enable an extended keep.

Wine Advocate

The 2006 Maria is a bit more expressive aromatically with notes of scorched earth, espresso, game, mineral, lavender, and blackberry. On the palate it is smooth-textured, balanced, and intense. It conceals enough tannin to evolve for another 3-5 years and should deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2026.

Score: 93. —Jay Miller, June 2010.

Wine Enthusiast

Prince would like this: it's Purple Rain collected in your wineglass. A bouquet of intense berry and black fruit tells you it's big, while the saturated palate pumps volumes of tobacco, chocolate and blackberry. It's long and oily on the finish, and persistent as can be. A big improvement from the overripe, poorly balanced 2004.

Score: 90. —Michael Schachner, February 01, 2009.
