Bodegas Caro Amancaya 2006
Bodegas Caro is a joint venture between two of the biggest names in wine: Domaines Baron de Rothschild-Lafite in Bordeaux, and Catena in Argentina. They began with the production of Caro, a wine intended to marry the two cultures, and the two signature varietals of each producer - Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. The first vintages of Caro were so successful, the families were encouraged to create another premium wine, and Amancaya was born. The wine was to be a Malbec-dominated blend, but would still be a balance between the Argentine and Bordeaux styles.
Bodegas Caro is located in the heart of the Mendoza region in Argentina. Both families bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the wines. Catena, having been in the winemaking business for three generations, contributes its knowledge of high altitude terroirs in Mendoza, as well as its passion for Malbec. DBR-Lafite lends its centuries-old skills in aging, growing and blending Cabernet.
Amancaya shows off a harmonious balance between Argentine and Bordeaux styles. We tried the wine recently, and it is absolutely delicious. It is a great way to discover the outstanding work of two of the wine industry's biggest names without having to spend a fortune.!
Please note: Our supply is limited. Once it is gone, we will not be able to get more until the new vintage is released. We expect our stock to go very quickly!
