Bodegas Caro Amancaya 2007

A vineyard in Mendoza

Bodegas Caro is a partnership between Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite and the Catena family.  The idea was conceived in 1988, and their plan was to create a wine which would be a melding of the Argentine and French cultures, as well as the two signature grapes of each producer, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Both parties brought a tremendous amount of skills to the project. Having produced wine for 3 generations, the Catena family brought there vast knowledge of the terroirs of Mendoza, along with their passion for Malbec; while DBR Lafite contributed their centuries-old skills in growing, vinifying and ageing great Cabernet Sauvignon.

First, Caro was created. The quick success of the first vintages of this Cabernet dominated wine resulted in the desire to produce another premium wine, this time Malbec dominated. The wine is Amancaya, and is also a balance between Argentine and French cultures.  2003 was the first vintage, and just like the Caro, the Amancaya has seen great successes.

At Wine & Spirit World, we too have seen great success with this wine with every vintage so far! We are happy to offer the 2007 vintage!
