Caronne St. Gemme

Here is yet another outstanding value from the highly successful 2005 vintage in Bordeaux  - Caronne St. Gemme. The first records of the vineyard date back to 1648, when a local landlord named Denis de Mullet of La Tour St. Lambert rented it to a farmer in exchange for the wines he produced. The vineyard is located in the St. Laurent Medoc area, in close proximity to the vineyards of Gruaud Larose, Lagrange, Belgrave, Camensac and Lanessan.

Caronne St. Gemme is classified as Cru Bourgeois. It received this designation in 1932, when the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Chamber of Agriculture drew up this list of high quality wines not originally listed in the 1855 Classification of Classed Growths, or Grands Crus Classes. In 1932, 444 estates made the Cru Bourgeois list.

According to Robert Parker, 2005 was the finest vintage for Cru Bourgeois since 1982, and the scores for these wines certainly support his claim. Whenever we have been offered the 2005 Caronne St Gemme, we have jumped at the opportunity to promote it.  We are happy to offer it to you once again!
