Chateau Pech Latt Corbieres 2009
Reg. $15.99 On Sale $12.99 By the Case $11.99 (per bottle) A few months ago we had the opportunity to sample this tremendous bargain in red wine! It's delicious, and we are impressed with the price as well! It truly represents great value...Some of the great values in the wine world today come from the south of France, where winemakers have been changing with the times to move their vineyards and wines into the world class category. Pech-Latt is located between Carcassone and Narbonne in the Lanquedoc at the foot of the Alaric Mountain. The first vines were planted around 784 AD by monks from the Lagrasse Abbey, founded by Charlemagne. Philippe Mathias currently oversees Chateau Pech Latt, and makes the wine. He has been there since 1998. According to Mathias, Pech Latt was one of the first properties to bottle their own wines in the region back in the 1970's. At that time, everyone else was selling their crops to the local cooperatives where it was blended with other vineyard's crops and sold in bulk. The region has come a long way since then. This "under the radar", organic gem is a blend of 60% Carignan, 15% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre. I love wines like this Corbieres - they are much more interesting to me than the more mass-marketed blends that one can find on any shelf, in any shop. If you are looking for something different, I highly recommend becoming acquainted with the Pech Latt Corbieres!
Please email me with any questions regarding these wines. Amanda Donnelly
