"Recently we had the opportunity to taste the wines of Jose Maria da Fonseca with owner Antonio Franco, over lunch at Chakra Restaurant. Also tasting with us was Susan Sherrill and Joe Iurato (Susan is the food editor and Joe is the wine writer for the Bergen Record). The consensus of our tasting was that Portugese wines, other than Port, are relatively unknown in the U.S. Yet these wines were each distinctive as well as of exceptional quality and value. The effort and dedication that the Franco family (2 brothers and a son) put into their wines was evident in each wine we tasted. Join us Saturday from 12-6 pm and taste the Fonseca wines.
