Andrian Pinot Grigio 2010
Reg. $19.99 On Sale $13.99
Founded in 1893, Cantino Andriano was the first cooperative in Alto Adige. The vineyards are unique to the area because they are protected to the west by Mount Gantkofel, which is made of dolomite rock and calcareous stone. Over the years, the sedimentary rock has eroded, forming a downward sloping hill of deposited soil at the base of this valley. This fertile calcareous clay soil is typical of the area and leaves its mark on the wine, giving it a wonderful minerality. The crisp acidity of the wine comes from climatic conditions which are cooler compared to other areas of Alto Adige.
This clean, fresh, complex, beautiful, medium-bodied Pinot Grigio exhibits flavors of pear and cantaloupe and will pair wonderfully with a variety of foods. Sip it alongside salads, chicken, shrimp, scallops and ethnic cuisines. This is a much more "serious" white than most Pinot Grigios I've tasted!
At an everyday price, it's a terrific wine to share with friends!
