La Spinetta

La Spinetta
Giorgio Rivetti's magic touch with Moscato, Barbera and then Nebbiolo took the world by storm. He produces approachable yet age-worthy wines that capture the attention of wine critics and consumers year in and year out with their lushness, concentration, aromatics and length. From his recently-acquired Tuscan estate, Casanova della Spinetta, located in the hills south of Pisa in the heart of Tuscany where the vineyards enjoy the strong summer sun and the soft breezes wafting off the nearby Mediterranean Sea, come two cru Sangiovese wines from 40+-year-old vines. Both are 95% Sangiovese with 5% Colorino aged one year in French-oak barrels. Sezzana, first produced in 2000, is full-bodied, round and floral, while Sassontino is the more masculine of the two crus. It is brawny and muscular with rich dusty cherry, currant and leather notes. 2004 is a ripe and classic vintage for Tuscany - don't miss these limited Spinetta beauties!
