An aromatic wine with smoky oak and smoked bacon on the nose is balanced perfectly by mouth filling ripe Merlot fruit and velvety tannins leading to a long and unforgettable finish. The "Epicurea" is Martinat`s prestige cuvee, selected from older vines and vinified separate from the main harvest.

I found Martinat’s 2005 regular cuvee too hard, rustic, and over-extracted, but this luxury cuvee possesses more charm, sweeter fruit, and better integration of wood. It should drink well for 10-15 years. (88-90)
