70% Grenache Noir, 15% Carignan, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. "Spicy, lifted on the nose by a clear note of volatility, surprising in this wine (I usually find Matassa reds and whites on the happily reductive side). Lovely fine texture and depth, a little meaty and surprisingly savoury. Vestiges of firm tannin. I might have put this in Italy in a blind tasting. Delicious freshness and no sign of heat even at 13.5%." Review by Julia Harding on Jancis Robinson's website Neal Martin 88 Pts. "Clean black fruits on the nose, touches of thyme and white fennel. The palate is medium-bodied, very well balanced and again with a sense of natural “being” with lovely simple, off-dry finish of raspberry, wild strawberry and loganberry with just a hint of hung game. Very fine. Drink now-2010."
