Napa Valley is a renowned world class winegrowing region that was the first recognized American Viticultural Area (AVA) among California's 107 AVAs. The combination of Mediterranean climate, geography and geology of the valley are ideal for growing quality wine grapes. In less than forty years Napa Valley Wineries have risen from relative obscurity to world wine recognition. Though most known for full-bodied, signature Cabernet Sauvignons, the 400 wineries in the Napa Valley produce a range of wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The region has been key in America's fine wine revolution as well as the state's rise as one of the best wine producing regions in the world, and yet only about 4% of California’s wine comes from the vineyard lands of Napa Valley.
