Bordeaux is one of the most extensive, and perhaps the most famous of the wine-producing regions of France. Producing over 700 million wine bottles each year, Bordeaux is the largest wine-producing region in the world. Bordered by the Atlantic coastline and traversed by three major rivers, the area has a fair climate which lends itself well to the creation of great wines.
Over 80% of the wines produced in Bordeaux are red, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes. Petite Verdot and Malbec are also common. Although known for producing some of the world’s best red wine, the region also produces a wide variety of white, sweet and sparkling wines as well. The wine from Bordeaux encompasses everything from everyday table wine, to some of the most expensive wines in the world. Like most of the country, wine bottles here are labeled by the region in which the grapes have been harvested, and not the grape varietal.

This wine is the result of a severe selection using the three traditional grape varieties Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle. Pale yellow and still relatively opaque. Citrus fruits reminiscent of lemon rind. After swirling hints of candied fruits like dried figs, dried apricots, grapefruit and torrefaction come through. The slight aromas ... more

Outstanding, bright, golden colour. The bouquet is still fairly closed-in, but its future complexity is evident. Reminiscent of honey, mandarin orange, and gingerbread at present. Also fairly closed on the palate, but undoubtedly has excellent ageing potential here as well. Enormous complexity. Perfect blend of softness and freshness. The long ... more

Beautiful golden yellow colour. The nose is concentrated and incomparably pure. It has classic fruit aromas (apricot, fig, and quince) as well as a marked citrus quality (grapefruit). The bouquet is also quite floral, which is very typical of Yquem. There are hints of oak (vanilla and a certain toastiness) ... more
