The Central Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) stretches approximately 250 miles along the coastline of California, from Santa Barbara in the south to San Francisco in the north, averaging about 25 miles in width. The Central Coast includes approximately 4 million acres, of which over 90,000 acres are vineyards. The fertile hills and valleys along with the cool ocean breezes make California’s Central Coast a prime grape growing region which produces approximately 15% of the state's total wine production and is home to about 360 wineries.
