Hess Allomi Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Out of stock

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

The Allomi Vineyard is relatively young, and it has one thing that Cabernet Sauvignon surely loves: some heat, and a long, lingering growing season that allows fruit to ripen slowly on the vine, gaining complexity and layers of flavor. There's a hint of floral aromas on the nose, with vanilla, oak spice and even a touch of pepper. Full bodied red fruit flavors typical for Cabernet are joined by notes of currant and blackberry with moderate, well-integrated tannins with wonderful balance and a soft, round, almost lush mouthfeel. Distinctive accents from American oak complete the profile, surely one of Napa's great treasures from Pope Valley.

Food Pairing: Earthy flavors enhance the fruit flavors in this wine, especially with foods such as herb roasted chicken, grilled pork, caramelized onions, eggplant, sautéed greens, roasted potatoes or vegetables and aged Jack and Gouda cheese.

Wine EnthusiastThis full and smoothly soft wine blended with 10% Petite Sirah, 7% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot is aged in American oak, a quarter of it new. It pleases in bright red currant, cassis and wisps of blackberry, both approachable and sophisticated. Velvety black licorice meets smoky campfire on the finish.

Wine AdvocateRed wines are also highlighted by the fabulous value in Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Allomi, is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petite Sirah, Malbec and Petit Verdot. It sells for a song and is a major sleeper of the vintage! This wine also sees 25% new American oak and spends 18 months in wood cooperage before it is released. The wine shows plenty of red and black fruits, earthiness and a lushness that is unusual for a Pope Valley Cabernet. It avoids the rustic tannins that area can sometimes turn out. This is a major winner and a delicious, fruit-forward, medium to full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well for 5-10 years, if not longer. And, the good news continues - there are 64,000 cases of it.
