Domaine de Beaurenard Châteauneuf du Pape 2013
|Brand||Domaine de Beaurenard|
Wine SpectatorBroad and muscular, with ganache, chestnut and leather notes out front, followed by a well-endowed core of blackberry, fig and black currant paste flavors. The intense, tobacco- and warm stone-fueled finish rumbles with bass, but has the needed acidity for lift and cut. Best from 2016 through 2024.
Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape is a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and the rest an assortment of permitted varieties. Aged 15 months in small barrels and older foudres, it has a modern edge in its cassis, toasted bread and black raspberry-laced bouquet. This gives way to a medium-bodied, elegant, yet straightforward and narrow palate that has lively acidity and a clean finish. Drink it over the coming 5-7 years.
