Wine SpectatorSweet and savory combine here, with cherry and plum fruit allied to licorice and saline elements. Burly tannins shore this up, with plenty of ripe fruit and concentration letting this find equilibrium in the end. Fine length. Best from 2019 through 2036. 1,083 cases made. -BS

James SucklingA firm and chewy red with dried fruits and lots of tannins as well as a walnut, grilled-meat undertone. Full body. Muscular wine. Better in 2017.

Wine EnthusiastAromas of toast, espresso and meat juices lead the nose. The palate offers oak, cured meat, grilled herb and dried red fruit alongside firm but fine-grained tannins. Drink 2016-2022.

Wine AdvocateThe 2010 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a thick, dark appearance with heavy aromas of dried cherry, prune, spice, leather and moist earth. There is very little subtlety to the wine, especially where the aromas are concerned. Roasted coffee bean, barbecue smoke and cured meat all play leading roles to primary fruit aromas. There's a spicy element to the mouthfeel but the overall consistency is shorter than you might expect. This Brunello should hold for about ten years.
