Wine writer Antonio Galloni described the Santa Lucia Highlands this way, “The 2013 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands is unusually juicy this year owing to the significant presence of Pisoni fruit in the blend. Dark red stone fruits, blackberries, menthol, tobacco, grilled herbs and game inform a dark, resonant Pinot with tons of near-term appeal.”

This Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a blend of Pinot Noir from the Pisoni, Rosella's, Soberanes, Sierra Mar and Gary's Vineyards.

Wine AdvocateScheduled to be bottled in August, the 2014 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands bottling comes more from the northern part of the appellation in 2014 (the 2013 was mostly from the southern end). It has lots of sweet cherries, roast, violets and minty characteristics as well as a ripe, voluptuous and still lively feel on the palate. More red-fruit dominated than the 2013, it's similarly styled and should certainly be an outstanding wine.

Wine EnthusiastOlallieberrries, grape seeds, roasting herbs and hot gravel show on the nose of this appellation blend by Adam Lee, whose recently sold his brand to Jackson Family but remains deeply involved. A marjoram-laced cranberry-juice flavor consumes the palate, lifted further by hints of dried fennel.
