Wine writer Antonio Galloni described the Santa Lucia Highlands this way, “The 2013 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands is unusually juicy this year owing to the significant presence of Pisoni fruit in the blend. Dark red stone fruits, blackberries, menthol, tobacco, grilled herbs and game inform a dark, resonant Pinot with tons of near-term appeal.”

This Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a blend of Pinot Noir from the Pisoni, Rosella's, Soberanes, Sierra Mar and Gary's Vineyards.

Wine AdvocateI loved the 2014 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands and this soft, silky, complex beauty is certainly a match for a number of the more expensive single vineyard releases. Giving up lots of Bing cherry, crushed flowers, black raspberry and spice, it has medium-bodied richness, no hard edges and a seamless texture, all of which allow it to shine today. Nevertheless, it should evolve gracefully given its impeccable balance.

Wine SpectatorCombining elegance with density and complexity, this is firm and spicy, with earth-scented dried berry, licorice, light oak and road tar notes. Ends a bit chewy and rustic, but in a pleasant way. Drink now. 3,021 cases made.

Wine EnthusiastOlallieberrries, grape seeds, roasting herbs and hot gravel show on the nose of this appellation blend by Adam Lee, whose recently sold his brand to Jackson Family but remains deeply involved. A marjoram-laced cranberry-juice flavor consumes the palate, lifted further by hints of dried fennel.
