Mets' pitching great Ron Darling is known not only for his role in securing the World Series Championship in 1986 but also for his fundraising efforts to further study and develop a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. Ever since Darling's son Jordan was diagnosed at age 11, Ron has been aiding the Diabetes Research Institute by hosting numerous events and raising awareness. In his latest project, Ron teams up with Paul Favale, Steve McFadden and the Donelan Family Winery to make the 2013 Darling Chardonnay. As long time Mets' Fans, the Donelan family was eager to help support Ron by making a wine to champion his efforts. The Donelan Family Winery is owned and operated by Joe Donelan and his two sons, Tripp and Cushing. Joe Nielsen is the head winemaker. The estate is located in Sonoma County but the grapes are selected from unique vineyards throughout Northern California.
