Domaine LaFage Miraflors Rosé 2016Named after an old estate located in the heart of Domaine Lafage, Mas Miraflors, the Miraflors Rosé is sourced from old vines of Grenache Gris, nearing 80 years old, planted near the Mediterranean. Added to this is some Mourvedre that Jean-Marc planted here about 15 years ago. This a direct press rosé with the color coming from the skins of the pink Grenache Gris berries, and naturally, from the much darker Mourvedre. It is aged in tank for 4 months before bottling.
Domaine de Mourchon Côtes du Rhône Villages Séguret Loubié Rosé 2016A blend of Grenache and Syrah. Enjoy as an aperitif, for a barbecue or as an accompaniment for Mediterranean style food such as Provencal salad or ratatouille. This wine also marries very well with spicy food.
Domaine Sautereau Sancerre Rosé 2016An intense and complex nose that develops aromas dominated by red fruits (strawberries, raspberries) and a touch of white peach. The palate has a supple attack, suggesting plenty of freshness. Overall it is round, unctuous, with citrus notes dominating, and a finish full of grapefruit zest. This wine is perfect for barbecues or outside parties. Wines from Sancerre, very easy to drink and refreshing, are made to be enjoyed with or without food. Perfect with appetizers, cheese, white meats or seafood.
Château de Pourcieux Côtes de Provence Rosé 2016Stylish rosé, with rich flavors of apricot, ripe peach and cantaloupe with smoky, spicy notes. Rich, almost creamy finish, with palate cleansing acidity. Full, rich wine, both fruity and ripely textured. The wine has weight, concentrated red fruits, with a touch of citrus. Typically dry, its richness makes it seem soft, rounded and for food. Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah.
Bonny Doon Vin Gris de Cigare 2016The ’16 Vin Gris is a bit of a departure from recent vintages, somewhat deeper in color and definitely a bit fruitier than some, though the fruit is perhaps (at least at this stage) more of the dark and brooding variety, particularly suggestive of black currants, Damson plum and rosehips. In our modern world, one must never, ever, ever, make anything like a health claim for an alcoholic beverage. Les français, on the other hand, have no difficulty believing that a properly selected wine can remediate, if not cure almost any medical or existential complaint. So, no, I’m not saying that the Vin Gris has a calmative effect on jangled nerves, nor that it creates an immense feeling of well-being almost immediately upon just scenting it, even before the first sip. (Though it does smell an awful lot like any of the sundry tisanes (tilleul, eglantine) that will definitely do you some good.) Its perfume is subtle, haunting, not vulgar or tawdry, like some of the louche rosés de la nuit. Enfin, this wine is all about elegance and restraint. Rosehips, cassis, fraises de bois, citrus rind, with a wonderfully austere stony finish. 49% Grenache, 19% Grenache Blanc, 13% Mourvèdre, 12% Carignane, 4% Cinsaut, 3% Roussanne. - Winery Notes.
Domaine Jacourette Rose 2016Lovely aromas of candied strawberry and citrus lead way to a balanced mouthfeel of refreshing cranberry and bright red fruits. A delightful aperitif that is a wonderful accompaniment to a wide range of appetizers, fish, poultry dishes and vegetarian fare. 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 10% Vermentino, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
