Earth, white currant and dried pear notes make for an intriguing nose. A touch of flint creates a smoky edge that carries onto the dry, concentrated palate where pear and currant are joined by bright, tart lemon. The finish is superclean, lip-smacking and dry.
From an average of 25-year-old vines grown on the gravelly soils around the winery, the 2016 Pinot Gris Turckheim displays a white-golden color with a slightly reddish hue. Clear and aromatic on the nose, this is a round, elegant, intensely fruity and well-balanced yet well-structured white with a long, intense finish with good mineral and phenolic freshness. The 2016 reveals nice salinity and is a good mix of fruit and gravel expression that ended up with 12.6% alcohol and 1.3 grams per liter of residual sugar. Tasted June 2018.
Dry and zesty, this minerally, light-bodied white offers subtle notes of mandarin orange peel, dried apricot, wet stone and smoke. Drink now. 1,083 cases made, 104 cases imported.
