Stags' Leap Winery Napa Valley Petite Syrah 2015
Argiolas Costamolino 2017Vermentino often shows the fragrance of macchia, the mix of evergreen shrubs and herbs that typifies the Sardinian landscape. Costamolino hints at aromas of pine and mint coupled with ripe stone fruit and sweet citrus. The palate is at once vibrant and textural and finishes with lingering acidity. Food Pairing: Costamolino is produced with the Mediterranean table in mind. The wine's lemony acidity will accent rock lobster or squid but carries enough weight to work with spaghetti topped with bottarga or a bowl of brothy clams and fregola. Vermentino's herbal flavor can also highlight vegetables such as fava beans or fennel.
Orin Swift Eight Years In The Desert Red 2017Heady aromas of brambly raspberry, black fig and peppercorn dominate; time in glass exposes more - dark chocolate, fennel and High Sierra forest floor. The palate is lush and opulent with blackberries, dark plums and currants. More flavors add to the quality of the blend - a visceral minerality and fresh Herbs de Provence. Fully integrated with puckering tannins, the wine bows out with finesse.
Northwest Wine Company L'Umami Pinot Gris 2017100% Pinot Gris from Willamette Valley. Produced and bottled by acclaimed French winemaker Laurent Montalieu of Four Graces and Solena fame. A dry, crisp Pinot Gris with vibrant fruit.
Orin Swift Papillon 2016A vibrant crimson is present in the glass with a claret fringe on the rim. Luring aromas of currants, mulled blackberries, French vanilla, and exotic spices serve as an intriguing precursor to tasting. The opening is dense and powerful with extracted blue and red fruit flavors which leads to beguiling cassis, plum, and a hint of mocha later. The tannins are already so soft and suave which lends to early appeal and cellaring if one so chooses. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc.
Bogle Phantom 2015Phantom, Bogle's mysterious apparition of ripe berry and relentless spice, returns to haunt wine lovers. Full of concentration and intensity, this wine will tease, tantalize and linger long after the last sip is gone. Wild berries, black pepper and hints of juniper are framed by the influence of oak aging with baking spices with a hint of toasty vanilla. On the palate, the entry is explosive, supported by chewy, chalky tannins that will age this wine for decades. The lingering, complex finish leaves one in anticipation of the next sip. Welcome the winery ghost into your home again with this latest vintage…before it vanishes again.
Poggio al Tesoro Solosole 2017Bright straw yellow in colour, with a substantial consistency. Solosole is characterised by a vibrant freshness, which is delicate and balanced. The palate is intense, persistent and refined. The aromas are both floral (white flowers and acacia) and fruity (yellow and tropical, including apricot and banana), typical of this variety.
Domaine LaFage Cotes du Roussillon Villages Lieu Dit La Narassa 2016Benefiting from a warm, dry climate, the estate is farmed organically. They grow primarily Grenache (Blanc, Gris & Noir), Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan, Marsanne, Roussanne and Chardonnay with a significant proportion of the vines well over 50 years old. The soil, as you near the coast is weathered, alluvial gravel while in the higher elevation sites it is predominantly schist. They harvest by hand and the winemaking is surprisingly uncomplicated with stainlesss steel for the fresher whites but mostly concrete tanks for the rest with a small amount of French oak demi-muids.
Couly-Dutheil Les Chanteaux Blanc 2017A rare and unique Chenin Blanc with aromatic, soft and floral fruits. Dry and elegant, complex and rich. Chanteaux is a dry, round, vibrant wine with flowery aromas and a little melon, white pear, and pineapple on the palate. This wine is similar to its Loire cousin Vouvray but it has more weight and depth; it is a wonderful and unique expression of pure Chenin Blanc, and it is a wonderful and delicious break from Chardonnay.
La Capranera Aglianico 2017A full-bodied wine accented by notes of fresh red berry, with a nuance of curry and chocolate. A perfect accompaniment to strongly-flavored foods, especially medium-aged cheeses and roasted or grilled meat.
Avennia Gravura Red Blend 2014This wine leads with ripe plum, cassis, fresh cherries and mocha, with hints of bay leaf, dried thyme, and anise. Rich and weighty on the palate, with dark fruits, chocolate and herb notes, all upon a firm structure that will reward bottle age.
Alexander Valley Vineyards Gewurztraminer 2018This is an aromatic wine with an enticing floral, almost sweet nose and initial aromas of grapefruit, citrus, tropical lychee, pineapple, melon, rose and pear.
