A rare product, because white wines only make up seven percent of the AOC's output. But this wine is a family speciality, as reflected by a few bottles of the 1929 vintage. The choice of soil is paramount: only a few parcels truly promote the fusion of soil and traditional white-grape varieties. The wine is made solely with white grapes: 30% Clairette, 20% Grenache Blanc, 25% Bourboulenc, 22% Roussane and three per cent Picpoul and Picardan.

Wine SpectatorInviting, with a whiff of macadamia nut out front, followed by heather, yellow apple, anise and Cavaillon melon flavors. A light kiss of brioche on the finish is deftly done. Clairette, Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc.

Wine AdvocateA blend of 30% Clairette, 25% Bourboulenc, 22% Roussanne, 20% Grenache Blanc, 2% Picpoul Blanc and 1% Picardan, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is a medium to full-bodied wine with plenty of floral notes up front, pear and melon on the mid-palate and lime and anise on the finish. It's a solid offering that won't disappoint, provided you drink it in its first few years.
