Poggio San Polo Brunello di Montalcino 2012

Poggio San Polo Brunello di Montalcino 2012

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Intense and bright ruby red with garnet highlights, this wine reveals typical aromas of violets and small red berries. There is a distinctive aroma of woodland undergrowth, aromatic wood and a light note of vanilla and preserved fruit, followed by subtle nuances of coffee. The nose is intense, persistent, broad and ethereal.

James SucklingWonderful aromas of ginger, plum, lemongrass and ripe berry. Full body and silky tannins with a depth of fruit and a long, long finish. A fantastic wine for the vintage. Can age this, but delicious already

Wine AdvocateShowing craftsmanship and care, the 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a classic interpretation of Sangiovese from a warm vintage. It is generous and immediate with dried cherry aromas, blackberry, spice, leather and pressed rose. This is not a banal Brunello by any stretch. The more you dig deep into the bouquet, the more there is to discover. I detected hints of rosemary and sharper notes of pecorino cheese. Together, they paint a pretty picture of both the grape and the territory.

Wine SpectatorElegant and approachable, this Brunello offers charming berry and cherry flavors, accented by tea, tobacco and spice. Firms up as the dense tannins flex on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2033. 4,166 cases made.

Wine EnthusiastUnderbrush, toast, dark-skinned berry and eucalyptus aromas lead the way. Firmly structured and elegant, the palate offers dried cherry, cranberry and star anise framed in fine-grained tannins. A coffee note wraps up the finish.
