Beringer Quantum Red 2014
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
Wine EnthusiastThis would be a straightforward Bordeaux red blend if not for the 5% Petite Sirah within. Together, it's 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec as well, sourced from Howell Mountain and valley floor sites. Dusty and herbal, the wine is thick and sizably tannic, with dense black fruit, leather and coffee.
Wine SpectatorAn easygoing effort that drinks well now, combining ripe, rich dark berry fruit with anise, licorice, light mocha and cedary oak notes. Smooth and lingering on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah and Malbec. Drink now through 2026. 36,327 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThere are 36,000 cases of the proprietary red blend, the 2014 Quantum, a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah and Malbec. Supple tannins, a dark ruby/purple color, a spicy, berry-fruited nose, medium to full body and a silky mouthfeel make for a delicious wine to drink over the next 8-10 years.
