Gaja Ca'Marcanda Promis 2016An abbreviation of the Latin word for promise – "promissio" – Promis is a light garnet wine with a bright, fruity aroma and deep jammy flavors. The texture is supple and elegant, with a balanced body and lingering finish.
Calera Mt. Harlan Chardonnay 2016Bright and sophisticated, with lovely weight and a lush, mouthcoating texture, this wine begins with enticing aromas of Asian pear, toasted brioche and lemon zest. On the palate, flavors of Key lime pie and cumquat are supported by beautifully integrated French oak and a streak of acidity that adds poise and length to this elegant Chardonnay.
Conundrum White 2016Sourced from California’s premier winegrowing regions, this wine is both exotic and bright, a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Muscat Canelli and Viognier. It lures you in with scents of apricot, pear and honeysuckle, and if you’re paying attention, orange and lemon meringue pie. Initial sweetness is balanced by natural acidity, and we love the hint of oak that plays with flavors of peach, apple and citrus. The long finish will leave you longing for another glass.
Cousino Macul Antiguas Reservas Cabernet Sauvignon 2015Intense bright rubi red color. The aromas are clearly frutal and spiced, giving a first impression of plums, raspberry, cherry and a floral note with fresh pepper. Afterwards, it gives space for toffee accompanied by vanilla and a smoked scent. In mouth, it has a medium to high acidity, round tannins and very frutal feeling. It´s an elegant wine with an intense body, fresh and long mouthfeel.
Casa Emma Chianti Classico 2016An important wine combining tradition and innovation. Designed with care to maintain the traditional taste of Chianti Classico, but with a slight spring in its step to keep it from coming across as excessively "rigorous". Serving suggestions: The strong presence of crunchy fruits in the aroma allows a perfect match with cold cuts on top of bruschettas, soups of legumes or even pasta with white-meat sauces or vegetable sauces. Tannins are fresh and straightforward and the acidity is high, which makes it perfect for a Tagliata or a Florentine steak, or for any red meat cooked raw. Very interesting match with medium-aged, savoury cheeses.
Bodegas Campo Viejo Reserva 2014Ruby-red colour with a golden rim. Bright and deep. Complex aromas. There is a great balance between the fruit (cherries, black plums, ripe blackberries) and the clean nuances coming from the wood (clove, pepper, vanilla and coconut). The nose is further enriched by the aromas that develop during bottle ageing. Smooth and balanced on the palate with a full, elegant feel and a long, lingering finish.
Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2017The 2017 Guidalberto is dark, sumptuous and quite powerful. Even with the extremes of the punishing growing season, the 2017 comes through beautifully, showing remarkable clarity and precision. Black cherry, plum, lavender and spice notes are pushed forward, but it is the wine's structure that gives energy and a real sense of direction. Time in the glass brings out an attractive red berry and floral character that adds freshness.
