Elisabeth Chambellan Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes 2016
|Region||France, Rhone, Chateauneuf-du-Pape|
Wine AdvocateMore approachable young than the 2015 version, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Elisabeth Chambellan Vieilles Vignes is a blend of 88% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 2% Mourvèdre, all grown in the la Crau lieu-dit. Aged in a combination of foudre (20%) and concrete (80%), it shows plenty of ripe Grenache character, including hints of peanut skin and stone fruit. It's full-bodied and creamy textured, with a hint of leather on the finish. Already drinking well, it should continue to do so for another decade.
