Elderton Command Shiraz 2014
|Region||Australia, South Australia, Barossa|
Wine AdvocateFrom vines planted in 1894, the 2014 Command Single Vineyard Shiraz aged in a combination of French and American oak (80% new). Aromas of smoky campfire and vanilla lead the way, followed by expressive raspberry fruit. It's full-bodied and lush across the palate, creamy in texture, impressive in its concentration and balanced by a crisp, fruit-driven finish. Quintessential Barossa Shiraz.
Wine EnthusiastThis is a ripe, jammy wine that swims with notes of stewed plums, strawberry crumble and vanilla. The plump, cooked fruit continues onto the palate. There's enough acidity to keep it out of syrup territory but it nevertheless feels a little soupy and doesn't appear to be holding up particularly well with time in bottle.
