Macallan Edition No. 3 Highland Single Malt Scotch WhiskyDrawn from a combination of European and American oak casks, Edition No.3 is sweet and fruity in character, balancing the heavier base recognisable in our single malts with citrus, vanilla, florals and fresh cut oak. Color: Barley Gold. Nose: Reminiscent of a fine fragrance, the nose leads with vanilla ice cream, fresh cut oak and delicate florals. Orange oil provides subtle grandeur while ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg flit in and out in various guises. Vanilla imparts sweetness, leading citrus fruits forward then allowing chocolate to show. Burnished oak delivers a soft ending. Palate: Sweet fruit, vanilla and rich fruit cake with suggestions of apricot, pear and crisp green apple. The Last Drop Distillers 1968 Glenrothes Single Malt Scotch WhiskyCask No. 13508. 18 carat gold in color surprisingly good beading for its strength. A slight prickle on the nose and a complex, mellow aroma which is at once fruity and herbal – crystallised greengages, dusty dried mixed herbs – with an elusive whiff of scented smoke, a trace of cigar boxes and after a while a hint of candlewax. The texture is oily and the taste sweet and centre palate, with some saltiness and peppery spice in the long warming finish and a slightly mentholic aftertaste. Each bottle has been scrupulously bottled and wax-dipped by hand. Part of the ‘Limited Bottling’ range, The 1968 Glenrothes Single Malts are presented in a luxurious deep red The Last Drop Distillers leather case. A generous 50ml miniature, a custom-made stopper, a luxury tasting book and a signed certificate of bottling complete the meticulous presentation.
