Caymus has a signature style that is dark in color, with rich fruit and ripe, velvety tannins - as approachable in youth as in maturity. We farm Cabernet grapes in eight of Napa's 16 sub-appellations, with diversification enabling us to make the best possible wine in a given year. Our Cabernet offers layered, lush aromas and flavors, including cocoa, cassis and ripe dark berries.
Selah Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2016Located on Howell Mountain is the estate vineyard that produces Selah, a small, secluded site surrounded by tall pines and patches of forest. As with many Howell Mountain vineyards that sit above Napa Valley’s fog line, the site’s high altitude translates into cooler daytime temperatures and warmer evening temperatures than are experienced on the valley floor, and the extended growing season usually begins and ends a few weeks later. At Selah Wines, we produce approximately 250 cases a year of Cabernet Sauvignon from our vineyard on Howell Mountain. In the glass the 2016 Selah Cabernet displays a completely opaque purple-crimson hue with a dark garnet halo. Moving in for closer inspection, aromatic notes suggest macerated currant, bittersweet dark chocolate, roasted meat, pine bough, fresh loam, and violet oil. For a Howell Mountain wine, this bottling shows a silky-fine set of tannins that are well balanced throughout the entire trajectory. The prolonged, mouth-watering finish goes on and on. - Thomas Rivers Brown

Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 1.5LA dark, scarlet red color, with powerful aromas of sweet ripe cabernet grapes. Initial impressions are fantastically appealing, brooding to expansive textural sensations of finely grained cacao tannins. The whole of the wine is balanced, rich, expressive and impressively complex. The backbone of fine tannin and sweet ripeness is a carry-over from perfectly mature fruit.
Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2016We set aside the best barrels of our Cabernet to produce Special Selection - the only wine in the world honored twice as Wine Spectator magazine's "Wine of the Year." Lamborn Family Vineyards Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage XIV 2016"Rich and fragrant notes of blueberry and blackberry permeate the glass, accentuated by light mocha and vanilla undertones. The palate is greeted with deeply rich blue and black fruits, a whisper of tart cherry, and superseded by a dense and chewy lingering mouthfeel from front to back. The medium toast French oak accompanies the ‘Howell Mountain dust’ and moderate silky tannins. An enchanting mountaintop Cabernet, this lavish and elegant wine well-represents the remarkable Lamborn vineyard." - Heidi Barrett, winemaker (Screaming Eagle Wine Maker ) The near-perfect 2016 growing season started early, saw ideal weather conditions throughout, and wrapped up as the Valley's first significant fall rainstorm arrived on October 14th. Thanks to a relatively steady and mild July and August, followed by a series of warm days at the end of the growing season, vineyards were able to progress to perfect ripeness. Wines from the 2016 vintage are developing beautifully and vintners are pinching themselves and smiling for the gift Mother Nature has given us: a fifth consecutive vintage of stellar quality Napa Valley wines. We hope you enjoy our 14th vintage of Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon ! 100% estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon

Orin Swift Mercury Head Cabernet Sauvignon 2017A familiar nose of pedigree, the wine opens with aromatics of ripe raspberry, blackcurrant, cigar box and a hint of fresh sandalwood shavings and Herbs de Provence-mysteriously intriguing at first but evolving into a thoroughbred with time and air. Dense and layered on the palate, an immediate note of mixed berry strudel topped with fresh cream, fresh black raspberry and soft tannins akin to baking chocolate transition to a finish of both nuance and concentration. Still young, the wine will continue to evolve gracefully while retaining its luscious quality and classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon nature.
Bevan Ontogeny Propietary Red 2017
Bevan McGah Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014The McGah is the livelier of the two, with more vibrant flavors and a finish that seems to go on for minutes. I have opened them up side by side, three times and have yet to be able to pick out a favorite. Seductress or Minx? Refinement or hair pulling? It comes down to your mood and how you want to dance. Ballroom or disco?
Maybach Family Vineyards Amoenus 2016The aromas from this deep purple wine will command your attention even with the glass an arm's length away. The round, enveloping harmony of the aromas resonate with classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon highlights: dark fruit, exotic spice, aromatic wood, and ethereal floral notes. The palate experience is precise, layered and drawn out, well after consuming the first taste. Notes of crushed blackberries, clover oil, spearmint and cocoa nibs are expressed seamlessly in the glass. As with many exceptional creations, there is a quality that leaves you immediately wanting more, while also wanting to take time to reflect on the initial experience.

PerUs Bryn Proprietary Red 2017This is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. The goal when crafting this wine was to showcase the amazing harmony that these two varietals highlight in each other. The Cabernet Sauvignon with all of its power and purity of fruits is enhanced by the Merlot's amazing mid-palate and richness. The Merlot with all of its chocolatey goodness benefits from the Cabernets black berry and blueberry flavors. The resulting wine is a combination of power and seductiveness.
