Domenico Clerico Barolo 2014
|Region||Italy, Piedmont, Barolo|
The 2014 Barolo is one of the most attractive wines I have tasted from Clerico in some time. Pliant, generous and inviting, it has quite a bit to offer. Succulent red cherry and plum fruit are pushed forward in this open-knot, sexy wine. The 2014 spent 16 months in barrique and a further 16 months in cask. It could turn out to be one of the surprises of this vintage.
This opens with aromas of dark berry, cooking spice and espresso. The racy palate offers tart cherry, toast, mocha and tobacco alongside assertive, close-grained tannins. Drink after 2022.
