Biscardo Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2013
Vineyards are located around Verona hills facing South, getting the sunlight most of the time. The most productive area where we grow vines for Amarone is Valpolicella, on the northern part of Verona, classic area of this wine
Martino and Maurizio have the pleasure to present this Amarone. The grapes are still hand-picked up and placed in wooden cases. Then are allowed to dry in special chambers to concentrate the remaining sugars and flavors. Following drying, end of January, beginning of February, the grapes are crushed and go through a dry low-temperature fermentation process. Then the wine is aged initially in stainless steel tanks and successively in small barrels. This Amarone has an intense color and an important bouquet. It pairs excellently with red meat and game.
Amarone ages for 1 year and a half in Slovenian barrels of 30hl, big ones. After that, it is transferred back to stainless steel tanks for 2 and a half months and then it continues aging in the bottle for 1 year. This confers to the wine the fruitiness and dried fruits aromas, so no more wood influence.
Colour: Intense garnet-red
Bouquet: Characteristic winy bouquet, intense and persistent, cherry hints
Taste: Velvety, slightly tannic, reminds of cherry and bitter almonds.
