Domaine Lamy-Pillot Chassagne Montrachet Champs de Morgeot 2017
|Region||France, Burgundy, Chassagne-Montrachet|
This wine comes from a wonderful vineyard in Chassagne Montrachet and is vinified in 10% new French oak for 14 months and then in stainless steel for 3 months in order to retain its minerality and freshness. A classic Chassagne rouge nose with notes of pepper, pungent iron-infused earth, plum and red berries. There is good richness with fine power and plenty of mid-palate concentration that evidences mild rusticity on the long, balanced and mouth coating finish. There is mild austerity and excellent character and while this isn't especially refined, it's textbook Morgeot in a built to age package.
