Château-Haut-Beausejour St. Estephe 2016
|Region||France, Bordeaux, St. Estephe|
A generous and round-textured red here. Full to medium body. Juicy and fruity. Pretty young wine — the best from here in a long time.
Another Pichon Comtesse estate up in St-Estephe with a lovely ripe fruit expression. There are some tight, austere tannins right now, and the wine is a little less immediately exuberant than some, but give it a few years in bottle to flesh out. 62% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot. The 2016 Haut-Beausejour is a very pretty, expressive wine that isn’t trying to do too much or be something it is not. Supple, plump and juicy, it offers lovely depth and impeccable balance in an open, approachable style that will offer plenty of pleasure over the next 15-20 years, give or take. A generous and round-textured red here. Full to medium body. Juicy and fruity. Pretty young wine - the best from here in a long time.
A fresh and open style, with lilac-edged plum and cherry notes. Light flashes of chalky minerality and savory hold the unadorned finish. Drink now through 2028.
