Terlato Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2017
|Region||Italy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Colli Orientali del Friuli|
This opens with enticing scents of honeysuckle, ripe orchard fruit and a whiff of beeswax. The enveloping palate doles out juicy yellow pear, creamy white peach and a hint of citrus, while a mineral note brightens the finish.
A sleek, minerally white, light- to medium-bodied and offering a stony underpinning to the finely meshed notes of green pear, light herb, pink grapefruit zest and white pepper. Drink now through 2024. 54,000 cases made, 50,000 cases imported.
I was able to taste two whites released under the Terlato Vineyards label, both of which are terrific wines. Starting with the 2017 Pinot Grigio, it's a sweetly fruited, charming effort that has plenty of apple and sweet citrus aromas, medium body, a rounded, lush texture, and a good finish. Drink it over the coming year.
From winemaker Luca Sirch, the Terlato 2017 Friuli Colli Orientali Pinot Grigio offers zesty freshness and clean aromas of citrus, lemongrass and green apple. This is a lightweight white to serve with easy finger foods or fried appetizers at an outdoor picnic party.
