The 2021 vintage is showing so massive on release that it's giving us 2018 vibes. As usual, it is a blend of all our best vineyards, although primarily Tench Vineyard. Prominently Cabernet Sauvignon shows massive power and is one of our darkest Ontogeny bottlings ever, yet it still retains its complexity with the Merlot and Cabernet Franc additions. Vibrant blueberry, boysenberry, and creme de cassis with super concentrated fruit, and with the weight and tannin in the back palate that will allow this wine to age gracefully. Deep, dark, and powerful.
Russell Bevan (Winemaker) "We approach winemaking from a texture standpoint. We know that special vineyards will give us flavor and aromatics, but managing the textural balance is where the real magic lies. We use minimal pump-overs, instead turning our fermentations with giant giant air bubbles. THIS PROCESS results in a gentler extraction of tannins and anthocyanins. We strive to make MASSIVE wines with huge tannin profiles that never come across as tannic. Let the vineyard's voice find its own way while ensuring that the wine is texturally seductive and intense"

Revealing a dense purple hue as well as rock-star notes of creme de cassis, violets, tobacco leaf, and chocolate. It’s a big, classic Bevan wine and has remarkable purity, silky, polished tannins, and not a hard edge to be found. Don’t miss it!
