Donatella Cinelli Colombini Brunello di Montalcino 2013
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Brunello di Montalcino|
|Brand||Donatella Cinelli Colombini|
Underbrush, fragrant blue-flower and wild berry aromas take center stage on this elegant wine. Mirroring the nose, the vibrant, graceful palate delivers crushed Marasca cherry, juicy cranberry, star anise and wild herb framed in firm acidity and taut polished tannins. It's well balanced, with a weightless intensity. Drink from 2021 through 2033.
The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino shows warm aromas of ripe fruit, savory spice, tobacco and grilled herb. The wine is generous and full. There is plenty of primary fruit at the back that glues all these various elements firmly in place. The fruit is subtle and delicate in this vintage. The wine ages in tonneaux for one year and in botte grande for 18 months. Given the nuanced and excellent quality of fruit in this vintage, this wine would have worked with even less oak in my opinion.
Shows some density, offering hints of chocolate along with cherry, plum, leather and spice notes. Just a bit pinched on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2030. 3,300 cases made, 1,100 cases imported.
