The quality of wine is based on the quality of all its inputs - good vineyards, smart farming, pure and focused winemaking - ultimately attention and TLC at every step. We make this wine from the vineyards to the bottle, working closely with grape growers from awesome little vineyard sites in Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and the Sierra Foothills. We've sought out interesting sites with great dirt, farm them with care and thought, and use traditional winemaking to craft honest wine and make an artisanal red wine blend to match any occasion, any food, any time. Vermillion is a terroir-driven, delicious, hand-crafted wine to be enjoyed any night of the week.

A kitchen sink blend based mostly on Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah (there's some Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Counoise) made by Helen Keplinger, the 2016 Vermillion is about as charming and delicious as it gets. Black raspberries, cherries, strawberries, spice, some garrigue and leafy herbs all flow to a medium-bodied, balanced wine that delivers tons of pleasure. It's a great value and I'd be thrilled to drink bottles over the coming 4-6 years.

The 2016 Red Blend comes from the Sierra Foothills (69%) and Sonoma (31%) and was aged 18 months in 30% new French oak. It's blended of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Counoise and Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium garnet-purple colored, it's scented of red cherries, warm plums, black raspberries and black berries with spice box and fragrant earth. The palate is medium to full-bodied and chewy, with good concentration and finishing long and earthy. 1,600 cases produced.
