Casanova di Neri entered the market with its Brunello di Montalcino in 1978. Now that the Neris produce two other Brunellos, this wine is referred to as the White Label Brunello to avoid confusion. The White Label is the winery's foundation wine, showing the background of Cerretalto's and Tenuta Nuova's excellence at a more affordable price.

Bright and intense red color. To the nose, the first impact is ethereal and citrusy. As it opens up, notes of red fruits become evident – particularly cherry, raspberry, and black cherry. On the palate the generosity of vintage 2017 becomes evident: the tannins are soft and silky, balanced by a subdued acidity, which perfectly embodies the energy of this sunny vintage. The ending is long and elegant, fresh and harmonious.

Wine Advocate 93 pts "With a special commemorative label that celebrates its 40th birthday (1978-2018), the Casanova di Neri 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is lush and carefully concentrated to offer intensity and textural richness. The bright fruit remains intact in this wine, with plenty of cherry and blackberry, in an encouraging nod to the future cellar potential of this bottle. Many Brunellos from this vintage reveal faded or dried fruit, but thankfully not this wine. The acidity is mild, falling softly to the background, and the tannins are expertly managed. Only the finish is a bit leaner and quicker than anticipated. The wine ages in large oak casks for 42 months, and this year's production is an ample 105,000 bottles. Happy anniversary."

The 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino pours a rich ruby hue with a hint of garnet and reveals aromas of red cherry, red plum, leather, and rosemary. It is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and an elegant texture, iron-rich minerality, and notes of red plum, fresh earth, and pine. Refreshing with its acidity and well-balanced, this is a great wine for its value. Drink 2023-2033.

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino keeps me coming back to the glass to take in its pretty bouquet of dusty florals, exotic spices, and dried strawberries. This is like pure silk on the palate, seamless and supple, with depths of dark red fruit and mineral tones that add a more tactile feel toward the close. Balsam herbs, cedar and tobacco all resonate throughout the long and dramatic finale, as fine tannins frame the experience with youthful poise. As is often the case, Casanova di Neri is a master at creating one of the region's most balanced and enjoyable "entry-level" Brunellos.

A firm and chewy 2017 that is slightly austere but still provides a lively and dark-fruited palate. Medium to full body.

Casanova di Neri’s ‘white label’ is crafted from the estate’s vineyards in Montalcino’s northeast. The 2017 edition also sees grapes from Cerretalto included, which is usually bottled separately. It emerges slowly, giving scents of violets, yellow broom and mint. The palate is currently a bit angular but the core reaches deep. It hints promisingly at cherry, clay, iron and graphite. An intriguing, intricate expression with noteworthy freshness. Give this a year to flesh out. Drinking Window 2023 - 2028
