We go back to the beginning with this brand, turning you all on to these incredible wines from the start. Thomas Rivers Brown and Matt Hardin are the masterminds behind this new cult brand. Each year, our allocation shrank until we now get a scant 12 bottles allocated. This is Stags Leap silk with the TRB touch, incredible purity and focus with enough structure and backbone to stand the test of time in the cellar should you desire. BRAVO!

Winemaker Notes: "What we got from this carefully selected block is a wine with no hard edges, a wine that tastes as it came from a million identical berries. There is great density, richness, acidity, and structure but all in equal proportion. This is new school Stag’s Leap opulence with notes of scorched earth, incense, spice cake, and licorice. The fruit profile here leans more toward the cool blue fruit side balanced by the tannin inherent in the vintage. This wine is so drinkable now but should easily go 20-30 years based solely on its density"... Thomas Rivers Brown

Caterwaul is a project between 6th generation Napa native, Matt Hardin and "Top Gun" winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Matt is a partner in Barbour Vineyard Management and is also married to Jim Regusci's daughter, so when it came time to source premium grapes, they found their favorite rows of Jim's prime cut of Stag's Leap District for this wine. Thomas and Matt had worked together for many years over many different projects and a friendship was developed. Out of that friendship the idea of working together, utilizing the strengths of the other, Caterwaul was born.

 Wine Advocate 95+ Points "The 2018 “Regusci Vineyard” Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with vibrant scents of baked blackberries and stewed plums, leading to cassis and pencil shavings notions at the core, plus emerging tar and roses wafts. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is bursting with bright, crunchy black fruits, supported by soft tannins and a refreshing line, finishing long and with seriously earthy layers. 250 cases were made."
