Domaine de Beaurenard Rasteau 2019
|Region||France, Rhone, Rasteau|
|Brand||Domaine de Beaurenard|
This highly concentrated wine, made from vines planted on the best slopes and terraces of the famous Rasteau soils, has an appealingly strong personality. Besides aromas of very ripe fruit, it is generally laced with notes of spice and garrigue scrubland scents specific to this terroir. Appealing tannic structure, a rounded body, rich and powerful…this is the Beaurenard's typically strong character.
Robert Parker 90 Points "While based in Châteaneuf du Pape, this biodynamically run estate's 2018 Rasteau is a solid alternative for much less money. A blend of 80% Grenache, 17% Syrah and 3% Mourvèdre, it offers scents of sun-warmed stones, hints of garrigue and bold flavors of black cherries and blackberries. It's medium to full-bodied and supple, with a round, silky feel on the palate. Hints of dark chocolate and a cocoa powder-like texture mark the lengthy finish."
There are two Rasteau from this reference point Châteauneuf du Pape producer. Starting with the 2019 Rasteau, it has plenty of chocolatey black raspberry and cherry fruits as well as loads of minerality, medium body, a ripe yet focused frame, and a great finish. This is classic, powerful Rasteau that's going to benefit from 1-3 years of bottle age and evolve for a decade. It's beautifully done.
