For three generations Domaine de la Roncière, on the south-facing slopes of the stony hills of the Rhone Valley, has been run by the Canto family. Luis Canto moved to Chateauneuf-du-Pape from Spain in 1948 and bought the vineyard from its original owners in 1958. Grandfather, father and son, all live together at the Domaine, which includes 27 acres in Chateauneuf, 35 acres of Cotes du Rhone, and another 13 classified as IGP. Today the vineyards are managed according to biodynamic principles, now certified by Agriculture Biologique. Theirs is a robust, earthy Cotes du Rhone, round on the palate, full-bodied, ripe, and packed full of peppery flavors with rich black cherry fruit

A round, ripe red with plums, chocolate, and some spice. Medium body and a soft, creamy-textured finish. Smooth is a good word. A blend of 85% grenache, 10% syrah, and 5% Mourvedre. Drink now.
