An excellent and racy bottle with the signature red fruit characteristics of Ambonnay. The Coutiers paractice "lutte raisonnée", a method of viticulture which encourages biodiversity and soil health. Coutier ploughs, uses no herbicides and grows grass between rows.

70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay

This takes the earthy, red-fruit richness of an Ambonnay Champagne and charges it with energy. It has stamina that seems to drive right along with the bubbles, the flavors firm and juicy, broadened by clay soils, cut by chalky soil acidity. Finely integrated and lasting.

The NV Brut Tradition Grand Cru is fabulous. Rich, ample and creamy in the glass, the Brut Tradition captures all of the natural intensity of Ambonnay in its expansive personality. Pinot Noir drives this blend in both its flavor profile and weight. Red cherry, plum, cinnamon, cedar and dried flowers are some of the many notes that build over time. This release is based on 2013, with 40% reserve wines.

The firm acidity is finely meshed in this seamless Champagne, with a rich note of chalky minerality underscoring the creamy palate's flavors of chopped almond, black currant, fleur de sel and candied lemon zest. Disgorged October 2014. Drink now through 2020. 1,500 cases made.

The current release of Coutier non-vintage Brut is from the base year of 2013 and composed of a blend of its customary eighty percent pinot noir and twenty percent chardonnay. Forty percent of the cuvée is composed of reserve wines. It was disgorged in September 2019, after more than five years on its fine lees and finished with a dosage of 6.5 grams per liter. The wine is classic Ambonnay, offering up a complex bouquet of white peach, bread dough, superb minerality, a touch of hazelnut and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and soil-driven, with an excellent core of fruit, frothy mousse and superb focus and grip on the long and complex finish. This will age very nicely, and though it is already tasty, it will be even better with some further time in the cellar. 2020-2040+.

Bright yellow with a strong bead. Sexy, strongly perfumed bouquet displays melon, white peach and strawberry, along with a sexy floral overtone. Sweet pear, strawberry and raspberry flavors are refreshingly juicy, with slow-building spices adding interest. Tightened up with air, but finishes with excellent clarity and a silky texture.
