This Vigneau Chevreau Silex is a real charmer, with lemons and minerals bursting from the glass. The flavors are pure. It is 100% Chenin Blanc. The wine is dry, but not a steely, steely dry. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted to ensure that only the ripe, healthy grapes make it into the bottle.

Gilbert Picq Chablis Dessus La Carriere 2015The name translates as "over the quarry," for the two parcels that are reserved for this wine grow above an old quarry in a bed of pure Kimmeridgian limestone, essentially one mammoth roche mère, or mother rock. Both parcels were planted in the 1970s, one with a clone, the other with a sélection massale, and the two cover just under five acres of ground. These two parcels are always the first to be harvested by the Picqs, and the last to be bottled.

Chateau Clos Dubreuil Anna 2014Freshness and precision. The three Merlot plots and the single Cabernet Franc plot dedicated to the production of Anna are situated on the north face of Saint Emilion's clay-limestone plateau. They are tended to with incredible diligence and care (de-budding, leaf pulling, green harvesting etc.) in order to obtain grapes of the very best quality. Harvesting takes place a week later than for the Clos Dubreuil plots and is done by hand, using small baskets. This 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc wine is made to honor the winemaker, Benoit Trocard’s grandmother. The vineyard site is 2.5 acres. It is a very complex wine with integrated oak from 20 months of aging in French oak barrels. It is consistent on the palette with molten tannins, dominant dark fruits and spices, very good length and spice on the finish.

Garnet Monterey County Pinot Noir 2016This is a Pinot with elegance and extract, but also with a lush body and silky texture. Aromas include ripe blackberries, cherry preserves, vanilla hazelnuts and toasted French oak. I love the velvety richness of the attack. The flavors of dark red fruits and exotic spices just make this a juicy, delicious mouthful of wine.

Château Bellegrave Pauillac 2015Developments during the growing season (bud break, flowering, and ripening) were particularly quick and even thanks to very advantageous weather, especially during flowering. Fruit set went very well, resulting in yields that were bountiful in a way we had not seen for a decade. We must acknowledge that nature was really very kind and generous to us. There was some water stress in summer, but not too much. September weather was perfect - not overly hot, but with beautiful sunshine followed by cool nights in the latter part of the month. Ripening was spread out over a long period, which is generally the key to a great vintage!
Descendientes de J. Palacios Petalos del Bierzo 2017Pétalos del Bierzo is assembled from old hillside and hilltop vines from across Bierzo's western edge. The wine is vinified for immediate appeal, but it retains the estate's signature finesse and restraint.

Anne Sophie Dubois FLeurie Les Cocottes 2018Starting with the 2015 vintage, Anne-Sophie has decided to release a different side of her Fleurie. Up until then, all of her Fleuries were 100% destemmed and fermented in a Burgundian-style. In stark contrast to her usual style, she is making Les Cocottes with 100% whole cluster and using carbonic maceration. It is released the Spring after the vintage and is intended to be fruit driven and drunk early & often.

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave St. Joseph Offerus 2016The vineyards used for Offerus are located in two distinct St. Joseph areas. The communities of Mauves, Tournon, and St. Jean de Muzols yield over 80% of the blend and are owned by Jean-Louis. These southern vineyard sites express tightly wound tannins, spice, and power. They add structure and depth to complete the harmony of Offerus. The remaining vineyards are located in more northerly communities around Serrières, and even these are farmed mainly by Jean-Louis, though he doesn't own the vineyards. This soil produces wines which are more elegant with incredible purity, definition, and focus.
Domaine Zind Humbrecht Lot 170 Gewürztraminer 2018The nose shows classic rose/floral aromatics, without excess though, and it is just starting to develop more interesting spicy/peppery notes. The fact that it spent the whole time on gross lees, helps to reduce the over varietal characteristic of this grape, that can sometime be excessive. The palate is long, elegant, feels dry and like any other wine in this category is already an excellent food wine.
Simonnet-Febvre Chablis 2018The wine has a lovely shimmer and is of a pretty golden colour with green reflections. The rich and complex nose is characterised by pleasant and subtle floral and mineral aromas. It has a wonderful, fat structure in the mouth with minerality and the charming typical chardonnay aromas of butter, brioche and meadow mushrooms. It is a harmonious wine that is not only fine and elegant but also has an excellent aromatic persistence. Best drunk cold with oysters, shellfish, fish and goat cheese.
